thai yoga therapy:
I am a graduate of the Chicago School of Thai Massage, and a Registered Thai Therapist (RTT). Their certification program is a comprehensive 6 month, 180 hour program. Thai Bodywork is a lifelong learning process, and I look for every opportunity to learn more about this amazing art! I have also completed many continuing education classes and workshops:
• Thai Foot Massage class at Chicago School of Thai Massage
• Advanced Sen Therapy Workshop with Rose J. Griscom
• Clinical Thai Fundamentals with Chuck Duff
• Clinical Thai Bodywork for Hip, Thigh, Knee and Groin Pain with Chuck Duff
• Clinical Thai Bodywork for Upper Back, Shoulder and Arm Pain with Chuck Duff
• Clinical Thai Bodywork for Headache, Neck and Facial Pain with Chuck Duff
yoga:
I completed yoga teacher training with Rhonda Kantor at Global Yoga Center, and am RYT200 (registered with Yoga Alliance). My training also included alignment workshops with Rita Knorr (they were amazing!!), and a Prenatal Yoga workshop. I have been practicing yoga since 2001, and have loved it since the very first moment I stepped on the mat. The knowledge I have gained during my teacher training has really helped me deepen my practice.Wow, what an experience! Other yoga trainings I’ve attended:
- San Francisco Yoga Journal Conference 2012 – Took classes from Tias Little, Judith Lasater, Ana Forrest, Gary Kraftsow and Annie Carpenter.
- Street Yoga Teacher Training – With founder, Mark Lilly
I firmly believe that yoga can be beneficial for everyone…and that classes shouldn’t be flexibility contests. My classes focus not only on the proper form in the poses (asanas), but also on breath control (pranayama), and meditation in order to help each person achieve a sense of calm, relaxation, and inner peace.
Here’s where I’m currently teaching (want to join me in a class? just drop me a line!):
• North Berwyn Park District…Kids Yoga…Wednesdays at 5:45pm
• North Berwyn Park District…Wednesdays at 7pm
• Cater Fitness…6-session beginner class…Tuesdays at 1pm
a little bit about me:
I have been working in the field of art and design for the past 15 years, and hold a degree in Psychology…so having a Thai Bodywork and yoga business is a completely different direction for me. I’m so glad to finally know what I want to be when I grow up! I spend my free time with my husband, two teenagers and two crazy dogs. Listening to music, practicing yoga, going to the beach {well, as much as I can}, traveling to new places and cooking are some of my favorite things to do.
