What is Thai Yoga Therapy?

Many names are used to describe Thai Yoga Therapy: It is known as Nuad Boran in Thailand, it is sometimes called Thai Bodywork, Thai Massage, Thai Therapy or even Lazy Man’s Yoga. It is very different from Western style massage because it combines assisted yoga poses and stretching with muscle compression, reflexology and healing energy work. It is also done fully clothed, on a padded floor mat.

What will it do for me?

Everyone is different, but here is a brief list of some of the benefits of Thai Yoga Therapy:

  • Deep relaxation
  • Stress relief
  • Improved sleep
  • Increased energy
  • Assists posture and alignment
  • Relieves pain and muscle tension
  • Improves circulation
  • Increases flexibility
  • Creates a lasting feeling of well being

Thai Yoga Therapy can be particularly helpful in relieving:

Headaches, migraines, whiplash pain, paralysis, numbness, sciatica, back pain and other conditions.

What can I expect at the session?

Wear comfy yoga clothes or sweats. You’ll fill out a brief questionnaire, and I’ll go over any health concerns or aches and pains you may have. During the session, I will guide you through a series of yoga postures and stretches while using palm and thumb pressure along your body’s energy lines and pressure points. I also use my hands, forearms, feet and knees to help coax out those kinks and tightness that have been making you sore!

Sessions are longer than Western style massage, about 1 1/2 hours long {you can book an hour-long appointment if you’d like!}.

Make sure you give yourself time to rest and drink plenty of water after the session.
